When Granny Jay passed her old suitcase down to me, I thought it was filled with keepsakes.
Instead, I discovered a lifetime of memories.
Pressed flowers tucked between faded pages. Handwritten recipes. Botanical sketches. Tiny apothecary bottles. Letters, notes and journals carefully collected over the years.
Some pages were stained with botanical oils. Others had faded with time. Many held little observations about the seasons, where ingredients were gathered, and the quiet rituals that filled everyday life.
Those discoveries became the inspiration for The Granny Jay Archive.
Each collection is a modern recreation, thoughtfully crafted using botanical ingredients and inspired by the journals, traditions and stories found within Granny Jay's suitcase.
Today, every product is lovingly handmade in small batches using nourishing organic plant oils, rich natural butters and pure essential oils, chosen to stay as close to nature as possible.
Wherever we can, we source our ingredients locally, supporting South African growers and suppliers who share our passion for quality and sustainability.
Every bottle, every jar and every bar is created with patience, intention and love—honouring Granny Jay's belief that nature offers some of life's greatest gifts.
The Archive is my way of preserving those memories, celebrating the beauty of slow living, and sharing a little of Granny Jay's world with yours.

Our Nourishing Oil Blend
Each Granny Jay Heirloom roll-on is crafted in small batches with a beautiful blend of jojoba oil, argan oil, sweet almond oil and fragrance.
Jojoba Oil
A lightweight, skin-loving oil that closely resembles the skin's natural oils. It helps leave the skin feeling soft, smooth and moisturised without a heavy, greasy feel.
Argan Oil
Often called “liquid gold,” argan oil is rich in nourishing fatty acids and vitamin E. It helps condition and soften the skin, making it a beautiful base for a perfume oil.
Sweet Almond Oil
A silky, lightweight oil that helps soften and moisturise the skin. It gives the perfume oil a lovely smooth feel when applied to the wrists, neck and other pulse points.

Orchard Fire Botanical Beard Oil
As autumn settled over the orchard and the mountain air turned crisp, Granny Jay wrote of evenings spent beside the fire while cedar logs crackled and the scent of bergamot, spice and woodland drifted through the cottage. Inspired by those journal notes, Orchard Fire Botanical Beard Oil is a modern recreation of a timeless grooming ritual.
A well-groomed beard is more than just appearance—it reflects care, confidence and craftsmanship. Daily use of beard oil helps soften coarse hair, reduce itchiness, nourish the skin beneath and tame unruly beards, leaving them healthier, smoother and easier to style.

Jojoba Oil

Inspired by the rugged beauty of The Mountain Years, Orchard Fire combines fresh bergamot with the warmth of black pepper, earthy patchouli, rich cedarwood and soft vanilla. The result is a sophisticated fragrance that is woody, fresh and quietly confident—reminiscent of mountain trails, cedar forests and evenings beside a crackling fire.
Granny Jay's Daily Ritual
Warm 3–5 drops between your palms and work evenly through your beard from root to tip. Massage the remaining oil into the skin beneath to nourish and condition. Finish by combing or brushing your beard into shape.
