A note I found scribbled on a pretty piece of paper, Granny Jay certainly did have a very caring nature.

In the Quiet of My Garden
There is something about a garden that slows the heart and settles the mind. Whenever life felt busy, I would find my favourite chair beneath the roses, basket at my feet, and simply listen. The bees were always busy, the birds never seemed to be in a hurry, and somehow they reminded me that nature has its own perfect rhythm.
This is where my best ideas were born.
As I watched the lavender sway in the breeze or picked rose petals for drying, I’d wonder how I could turn what the garden had given me into something that might bring comfort to someone else. A soothing candle for a friend who needed rest. A handmade soap infused with herbs from the garden. A nourishing moisturising cream made with botanicals I had carefully gathered. There was always another recipe to try, another blend to perfect, another way to share the gifts of the earth.
But more than the herbs or flowers, my thoughts always wandered to the people I loved.
I wondered whether everyone had enough. Whether they felt cared for. Whether there was a small kindness I could leave on someone’s doorstep or a little handmade gift that might brighten an ordinary day. I’ve always believed that the simplest gifts are often the ones remembered the longest.
The garden taught me that love grows quietly. It isn’t always grand gestures. Sometimes it’s a handful of herbs picked fresh for tea, a jar of homemade jam, a candle lit on a difficult evening, or a cream lovingly made to soothe tired hands.
When I sat among the roses, I wasn’t thinking about what I could keep. I was thinking about what I could give.
Perhaps that’s why I planted so many flowers. They were never just for me—they were meant to be shared.
